motion carries espresso more the boardof education for the minutes of the regular meeting on june 10th the strategic planning meeting on june24 special meeting on july 9th 2013estimate second it's been moved and seconded thatthe board of education approved minutes the regular meeting on june 10the strategic planning meeting on june 24th in the special meeting on july 9th2013 as submitted all in favor say aye alright calls motion carries

somewhere that notes i'll imports salutes i have one arm i received a letter fromthe it's been milligan at the community foundation a very different view writing on behalf up project hope in the and media in the districts supporterthat in a particularly mom surely horsemen's up support nancy i and wanted thank both standmyself for for her support in director studentservices

they've indicated my quote shirley'sbeen an amazing partner from the beginning she's been a tremendous supporterartwork to make the reinstatement center's success along with the leadership each the highschools and i remind you they've been able to do that partnershiphas been able to reengage more than 80 young people who have dropped out haveoutta school get them back and education opportunities including returning thehigh school or the on-line rapid recovery ged programs center so surelyaccept our thanks and appreciation for

all your good work in that area spreading the word education suspend thewalls award going to open for second it's been moved in saying that the boardof education suspend the rules of order and going to open for all in favor say aye by any oppose bobby half other board members at thistime an invite any member the art is a step to themicrophone with comments about items of interest or concern the state your name and your address itwould be appreciated knowing that mister

eisenhardt sister approaching the the podium they remind him as afellow official that three seconds is only three seconds is more like two and a half i soworkwear was certainly ask you this your mom is not a lower yeah i did say that's good so obviouslywe're going to keep the meeting move along so welcome ten-second rules 1 i'm marketsis that they gathered all hands are both hands with those involved in itself

thank you for coming i will you be thankyou very much for the opportunity to make a brief presentations therepresentative chuck guys in our 1665 kaufman avenue represent the 100 house district which includes asenior high school love your elementary schools pressdoubtful non-urban eisenhower and marshall i believe is theextent of it and so happy to report a little bittoday in a measure rivers accountability on what we accomplished during the recentlegislative session

you know state legislators we work forfood a and so we appreciate the opportunityto sit down with you in advance the session of the city-county another publica jurisdictions be here by yourpriorities at that pre legislative dinner that we have %um i i think it's december earlydecember late november i and so and many have you as boardmembers and your staff and and leadership ministration come down visit with his during a legislativesession so think it's only appropriate

least and gesture verse accountabilitythe one others come in maybe give a presentation to you howeverbrief one some other things that we did do during the session i in connection with k12 educationpresident down he'll be happy to know that ineglected to bring my glasses in today soul read the two page %uh summary thati provided to you in the board packet i am but i think it does highlight anumber of issues from our perspective as legislators some both items that may have come toyour attention three-year-old day after

maybe the association of school boards obviously the biggest i'll highlight is that up we came through with the some additional funding this year andnext four percent although 2 percent over like one-time-only youcan't building near budgets going forward on but i think given our a river the reversal of our fortunes youknow in the recent years we could afford and we i think made a wisedecision to afford

more substantial increases for k 12education compared with more recent i years it's regrettable land we tie knows did the deliberations overthose decisions other policy issues that they're really not germane to i like tothink when it comes to educational improvementfor good policy that good policies and we can figure that out should be able tofigure that out deal with those without necessarilyholding your funding hostage on the process becausewe know that you need to go about making those decisions in a timely fashion

just like we do flip side of that coinis now we've actually completed what weconsider an education reform bill i prefer to call it a school improvement bill the pressures of so tospeak %ah next year we don't have to thinkfeel like we have to pass a gargantuan education bill going into on an electionyear so maybe they'll give us a chance tostep back and focus on more same significant symbol isolatedpolicies that on can be helpful in the short term andencourage you to continue to approach

us a not only at the board level but at the staff level 90 on my yearswith the review gary labor-management counts we have a tremendous history of i love teachers administration workingtogether especially when it comes to you teacher improvement and i like to thinkthat we at the state level can learn as much from your example as we can tryingto impose our view on what ought to be done oneissue that's not covered in the summary here that i know it's kinda beena hot for mali in recent years and that is the whole question regardinga school start date

we wisely again withheld are verdict the legislature on what would bewise to do in that situation on that's actually a bipartisan view thelast year with last year's a education committee your verificationcommittee who i believe may have even lost is see on thatcommittee due to his outspoken 0 opinion and ithink a lot of factors go in up to those decisions that we reallycan't assess at the state level there really are local decisions onwhether or not you should start later because it benefits the tourism industry

in the area something you should sitdown with your tourism balls and talk about those issues and now you can cometo a mutual accommodation shouldn't come from us i dictating a onesize fits all solution because frankly i'mnot sure that that's being driven by the best interest evenhave your students who hold the jobs and those facilitiesand i'd like to hold onto another week or two i think frankly there are other peoplein the job market good for bill that service if necessary so that's one issuethat we did not deal with hopefully we

will not deal with it the legislativelevel although you'd need to monitor what's happening at the departmentallevel because education department may be reviewingthe attic coming up with a maybe get some tighter rules around thewaivers it's after so that i just leave you with thewritten presentation their extra copies in the back for members the public wholike to review those on just a couple suggestions don'thesitate if there's an issue the you think you need to review and defdon't hesitate to invite me here senator breaux manoeuvresenator your representative mercy

murphy dr meeting be happy to discussthose in depth especially if they need some type ofpublic understanding around them cuz discussingthe issues in public a good way and develop publicunderstanding i and i would also encourage you tomaybe think a little bit earlier in the process regarding what your pot priorities might be for next yearespecially if they involve reaching some type of vile combination with other districts jointlobbying around the state

usually by the time i january 13 to 14 comes around there the stars are intheir place and usually what will rise to the top of ouragenda is already up and decided so there are someimportant priorities that you have encouraged you may be at wanna have your upcoming meetings startdiscussing nosing and get to us earlier in the fall ratherthan later so we have a chance to start gettingarms around those issues in time for the next session

so very happy to answer any questionsyou may have about any items you see are some weird might be on your mind misprint questionfor our guest room good to see you arm the the governor no address given to wrote a review rotary about two monthsago prior to the bill passing getting finally negotiated madereference to the changing other way school i will be fine in particular he was referring to thecalculus allowable growth and i noted in the billthere was a

attempt to change the name of that butnot necessarily the function or the the structure on once i can you give us relative to anyfor momentum on altering the way we we fund schools and i'll i you havesome others scratch our heads and every see the nameis something change do you let's may be part of a longer-term strategy todeal with the substance and you know words have consequences andsometimes changing the name a change the perception i'll you know still structural issues maybe dealt withdown the line i have no idea

specifically a what's in the the mind the governor ido know that um when it comes to how much money youput matt pipeline that as a separate decision from how thepipeline works in the structure a funding i and i for one on a very hesitant totry to deal with ball for those simultaneously cuz a lot of times whenyou change the structure within the context of the currentpercentages that we provide that may make

the mail let me have some seriousramifications that we don't really understand if we do them separately so i think those structural changes needto have a us a very significant discussion and not to be taken lightly on thursday the legislature will beputting together its interim committees identifying which ones go forward i would look towards that if you don'tsee an interim committee to discuss school funding issues then it's probably not something that'sgonna be dealt with before the next

election but if there is an interim committee setup that something you wanna make sure your representatives are participating and for a briefing you on those discussionsthank you chuck thanks for coming out we overcomehear from people who was such a very often here soit's really places a heavy and and i think i can speak for most of usand say we really appreciate whatever latitude the legislature can give us asfar as local control goes not only on

the school start date but other issuesas well i mean we have a great group here 10,000employees 10,000 boys i'll never get want to avoid another 72,000 employees job 10,000 students a lobular committed yager feel i can make good decisions onbehalf you know based on locals issues localfactors so we present whatever latitude you give us on that for the board i would i would concurwith shocks are

a statement about getting to thelegislature early and they start having a caucus meetings october november weather where the democratsrepublicans again radio for me away with the strategies are for coming up the legislature real really imean now is probably the time we r sp having conversations about things that are important to uslike no one of those things it's important to us is resolution of the issue we have with the funding theschool district with as relates the

services provided by hillcrest so i'llbe i'm sure that you you're familiar without with that issue and i but that's a big issue that's still somewhat resolved and needsto be resolved as it has a big impact our district i'mbut appreciate you all you do and thanks forcoming ok walk to matt i think the governor is a relief and they'll make a special callto representative murphy for the day before reveal that languagein the bill

and so i think here that means theyunderstand the significance and the importance it sounds like they want i'm hoping whatthat means they want to get around to saying yes but doing it on their termsrather than being told what to do and how to resolve it that'sthe charitable you know interpretation i'm giving andi'm don't think to bx the only district inthat bowl a i think there are others with similarsituations although maybe they are currently getting

you know he went for for those costs butassessing the impact in other district and how it might impact otherdistricts i know i is important for this user five or sixdistricts are effective so it's not just a wordproblem those facilities house students from all the other 295 districts something for 55 us forfive assists a significant issue for the for the rest its the royal marines it's also hard to get to 51 voteswarehouses got a virus tricks affected which is why we need the toolsthat educate our colleagues about the

importance of it i am basically kinda like you know thisfor your district how would you want it done to be resolved but you're right ourcaucus by the time i cox's come around in the you know november or so our membershopefully we'll have heard that from their constituents about what thepriorities are we have five or six you can come in andsay and i've heard from a school board we need to

look at this and deal with this that canhave a big impact on our outlook as we go into that session just a couple a quick vote for small iwanna thank you as well from great have the dialogue state moneyis not state money state money is our money when it comesto schools we have to hand it over to the state soit can be handed back to us problem number one problem number two one we don't get when we don't know howmuch money about saying it's your fault choc

well we don't know how much money we'regonna have to of our own money that we gave to thestate that they get back to us one we don't know how much money we'regoing to have to work with and we have to go in the contractnegotiations we have no choice but to offer 0 percent raises which is and in salt to our staff its at best its it's a mouse that best we don't know how much money we have todeal with and so

you have to stop that at the state levelyou have to you can't let you have your ibelieve you have your own policies that saydistricts are to be notified by such and such a time tell me if i'm wrong on what your your money is going to beright allowable growth when you have an abiding by your ownrules and dom when you don't do that really creates amass for us so if you could take that little gospel according to barton back to yourfriends in the morning and i appreciate

the job you're doing bits spread that to the group that its itmakes it impossible to function responsibly with with financially in thedistrict when this continues to happen year afteryear appreciate that i i think many mycolleagues and i share that concern we tried to get this dealt with in a timelymanner on the house side as you know i'm not part of the majority caucus okand really influence you know what gets done i inthe house as well as i could if that were were differentand i think

i'm hoping that with others things wedid specifically some property tax reform measures and so much love school funding also comes from propertytaxes having that with property taxes onperhaps that will also take some love the needto you know the lane a decision on that offthe table since need to work on the property tax issueas well simultaneously hopefully that's another issue we won'thave to talk about so much im the next two or three years hopewe'll have a chance to let the changes

we made work and see how they work before westarts during that part again so hopefully that'll take some of that way as well the republicans would saythe same thing about the democrats and personally i don't i don't care idon't care if it's a democrat or republican thing its its gotta stop we certainly have theresources this year not to have to the way that decision so you we could use the excuse that weneeded to see where other spending

needed to to be made as the reason for the delaythat's for sure they were set for next we've gotpictures and things are and things are continuing to look down well for us in terms of the budget ornews reports i've seen say we're have estimates for this and the next fiscalyear based on what we did our budget on well represented by siri do you thinkthank you for being here i would have i can assure you we always have and willcontinue to

to partner with our local legislators iwould say that lotta cavite state tonight or her clearly aimed at maybe anotheraudience because i think we we feel very good about the relationshipwe have with our with our local we know they get it probably things iwould echoed pass along to your colleagues would bewill get to you early you get to us towards education earlyyeah because while i understand he maybethere's not as much noise going on i'm next year we stillneed you

to set that funding for the followingschool year next year early so that we can get our work doneand a okay and and accomplish some otherpriorities around student achievement i know that that we share with many are you in thein your car absolutely great thank you for you move organizations with the rules and such second it's been moved and secondedthe board of education reinstate the rosewater return to regular session

all in favor say aye right many oppose motion carries i was that the board ofeducation approved those items listed in the consent agenda second i it's been moved in the second to at the bar education for those itemslisted in the consent agenda is ur any board members wishing to remove anyitems within that agenda for further consideration herein none all in favor say aye i any apost mister president we have facilitiessupport services

meeting and have the followingrecommendations for the border to consider first being on the board ofeducation approve the purchase a vehicle tracking system and the engine diagnostic hardware andsoftware from tyler technologies for the transportation departmentmounted 78,000 364 toms sec hang on a sec adjournment honey nov 24

engine things them got it members spin move in saying thatthe board of education approved the purchase a vehicle tracking system andengine diagnostics hardware software from tyler technologies for thetransportation department any amount of 78,000 364 any discussion i know that doctor hall'shere on nov most of us got that orientation but youneed them

repeating the information that we'veseen it may be there for i did receive it would be beneficial for public everbroadcast you wanna take a moment and start line good evening wanna hold my hand is a gosixteen this unit is attached to of our buses and also district vehicles 121 vehicles it is a plug-and-play device that givesus feedback on locations and buses enginediagnostics and can generate history wraps

can generate many many reports for ussuch as the mauna diesel fuel that we are consumingthrough heightening it is basically a fantastic tool tocommunicate with fans because we do receive a lot of telephonecalls about where the buses how long is it going tobe into the bus arrives for i miss the bus what time is it thereso we can provide up-to-date accurate information to our constituents and so we have been lookingat this possibility for over two years when we first started

taking a look at a new routing system weselected versa trans from tyler technologieswhile we were doing a research just like run software we also startedinvestigating the possibility have gps and we were looking forsomething that would integrate with bursa trans from tyler technologies which alsointegrates with powerschool our students system so weare very confident and proposal that we receive from tylertechnologies they have done fantastic job with techsupport

and they provide us with the opportunity to gain valuable information becausethere are literally gazans and dozens out companies that arenow trying to pitch gps systems to schooldistricts because i just might add that you present this to them supportservices group and one of the things and it does not only do we want to be sure we havethe right technology in the classroom but

the right technology on that would saveus money made plus transportation safer higheraccountability for bus drivers know this also impacts their caulkingand clocking out opportunities comes as a lot of thingsare going to this and and also meshes with our legacy systemswhich is very important so or not you know adding things thatdon't talk to other things the way we actually got together so you appreciate that report and thankyou thank you so is this a real time systemthen good

and that i it's also we're talking aboutnow is the buses but other vehicles like vans that take kids to have a portable yes that will be attached to all of ourschool vans and also love our buildings and grounds vehicles including my vehicle so you canfind out where i am at any time in my vehicle so it is it is a systemthat we're hoping to use for the good as a means a helping our drivers inattendance and our families we're not planning ongoing to the dark side

what's out when we visited minnesotadistricts that was one thing that they definitelyemphasizes that there's so much information began the use good and that's how wefind you license were about the future obviouslytechnology changes very very quickly you me do that is there asolution two years from now when this becomesobsolete something else is better faster quicker stronger i thinkyou're always going to find something that's faster

makers stronger just the way the natureof the beast with technology but we're hoping this is going to be astep into time attendance system also a step wherewe can actually take attendance the students there are bosses any giventime and that's tremendous safety issue andthat's what this is all about is about safety and that is our chargestransportation to transport children safely to and fromschool also we transported over 1600 activities trips this year so we became a member of the millionmile club went down

miles we put on their cell yes thetechnologies that change but we're hoping this is part ave suite and we will continue to improve i wouldjust had that mean that the certainly chris is right were their or stay on theon the light side now the dark side but mom i do think remember too that %uh in addition to somebody efficiencies etcetera were raskin chris is true to really be a catalyst working with usto do some real different things around how we move kids in the eight transportationopportunities be provided

effort to bolster things like activitiesand those types of things in our in our district which means the moreappropriate relevant on you know real-time technology that wecan utilize were to do that because that you know absent for that that becomes abit of a spider web after after a while so we i think to to mattspoint i think if you waited always were worried about that next bestthing you it never invest in anything because it's it's always going to besomething but i think we've upped their wagon to somebody that we have a lot ofconfidence and we've weaver sir research the the integrationand

the way that can work whether othersystems definite great any other questions for all thank you very much thank you all andthere is a motion on the tables and second all in favor say aye are any opposed motion cares moved more education authorize the boardpresident to sign the easement agreement with centrelink you see for the installation communicationsequipment on eisenhower elementary school properties

sector it's been moved and seconded thatthe board of education authorize the board president signed the easementagreement with centrelink qc for installation of communicationsequipment eisenhower elementary school property a discussion all in favor say aye ii any oppose oceancarriers thank you move toward education approvehenderson design consulting as the architect engineer for the centralkitchen loading dock project at a cost to 5,000

seventy dollars second has been movedand seconded that the board of education prove anderson design and consulting isthe architect engineer for the central kitchen loading dock project at the casa fivethousand seven hundred dollars any discussion all in favor say aye ii opposed motion carries think move toward education approve theanderson design and consulting as the architect engineer for the seniorhigh school library roof project and the cost to seventy-five hundreddollars second moved and seconded that

the board of education approved andersondesign and consulting is the architect the engineer for the senior high schoollibrary rough project at a cost of seven thousand five hundred dollars any discussion on favor say aye i've imposed motion carries think i wanna just same as a prophet or acomment to this next motion that it thrills me to no end actually haven't decrease but we allknow when that will go i move more than she came to provechange order number one

to ports and construction incorporatedon the kennedy elementary school addition renovationproject in the deduct amount 20747 dollars and 55 cents second it's been moved and seconded thatthe board of education for change order number 12 ports and construction incomemccallum are kennedy elementary school additionrenovation project in the deduct amount have 20,000 747 55 all in favor say aye i any opposed gonna make a friendly a moment that wewill not accept

goin members who use their i go to thenext one you know is forgiven it right we yeah he's i'm find a way to do that give-and-take it i'm moving towardeducation approve change order number one reports & construction corporationand the washington middle school multipurpose room addition project now to forty 07851 dollars i'll second it's been moved and seconded thatthe board of education for a change order number 12 ports and construction

inca on the washington middle schoolmultipurpose room addition project in the amount of 47,000 851 dollars i many opposed motion carries i move the ball education approve changeyour number 22 clower development corporation on the carver elementaryschool classroom addition project in the united 659 dollars and sixty cents it's been moved in second and the boardof education for change order number 22 clark development corporation on thecarver elementary school classroom addition project came outta659 dollars and sixty cents

all in favor say aye i'm any oppose for motion carries thank you come overthe border education approve change your number 12 ports and constructionincorporated on the senior high school small gym floor replacement project the amount of 13,000578 dollars second it's been moved and seconded thatthe board of education approved change inc on the senior high school gym floorreplacement project in the amount of thirteen thousand fivehundred and seventy eight dollars discussion all in favor say aye

ii any opposed motion carries think we mister kelleher will present thequarterly budget report good evening board members andsuperintendent nine games i'm with presented to you is the quarterlybudget report which includes twelve months worth of operations i'm a couple highlights would like tobring to your attention believe it's on page 127 above your hando your packet on it's the generalfund expenditures you see that we had budgeted 119 million

three hundred thousand dollars roughlyfor the year i believe in past meetings we have projected about$260 million to be where we end up for the year i'm the number you see here's a 112million 700,000 raw numbers this is a cash basis number that's what this document aspresented on we will have a cruel adjustments as wellas receivables and payables on but will be the payables and accrualsthat generally will make that number a little higher

so it'll probably come closer to 160million then use the 212 but the point is i think we are ontarget for weary rom where we expected to be at the endof the year on the other item id like to talk to bring to your attention use on page 133 have your information you will see the general fund revenues i'm we have estimated there budgeted 111million 509 me thousand roughly

i think it's more by lock the good planning quite the year endedup 111 million 538 thousands so about 35,000 good he said so again we are right on target where he expected to be any questionsyou have on any of the reports we know where r up innings spending authority belts whatkinda time frame will die come you will be mid to late septemberrcr upload as well as a special educationsupplement upload are due sept 15

so that's when the final informationwill go to the city and will be able to calculate thosenumbers at that time i don't state venturing far because our numbersare fairly close to where we had project you have any information about where theassessed values for coming in and out from the recentassess where they can be high you know what kinda percentage increasewith another assessed values over there you receive no information recently from the county auditor but usually therethree and a half percent

historically the last five years they'vebeen about three and a half percent increase and assessed value and i don'tsee that changing the questions thank you move the board of educationapproved a quarterly budget report as presented second still moved and seconded toapprove the courtly budget report as presented all in favor say aye ii any opposed motion carries think %uh and programs policies tragically reportwas just really didn't have them

that's our report them look forward to the next one case but alright that takes us to new business up a syriza motions associated withcollective bargaining i'm a bit but if its case to approve theagreement with the to puke education association aspresented facts it's been moved and seconded that theboard of education approved the agreement that view education association as presented thecircle pits as hell no conspiracy

it's called you anything up for small this is one of three that weretalking about tonight but the first one here with the teachers in negotiation i'mhappy to report that we have a 3.5 eight-percent increase in salaries and the babys 327 dollarincrease in the base and that does represent

a 3.5 eight-percent settlement theteachers agreed to take a lump-sum payment one time as you heard mister eisner talking earlier about askinny 2 percent this year that goes away that we don't have the carryoverevery year so 3.58 percent represents what we willcarry over in salary schedule from year to year toyear the lump sum payment a hundred and seventy dollars uprepresents a four-point whole package increase a 4.0 percent total packageincrease 0 that lump sum payment goes away afterthis one year the teachers agree to take

that this year and so are the total package increased again the salary in the bases at 3.58percent when you ad out one-time lump-sumpayment in this year it is a total package increase %uh 4.0percent any questions where we said our 3.58 words that saidall along state red line with other districts asfar as 3.58 percent below the trend lines that were seen in the state whichare around 38 39 and some in the uae and so there were afew to settle below that

the foreperson so where we cusp whatthat is we're below it in the ongoing baseincrease were above it when you go to fourpercent with the one-time lump-sum so was really come a win-win in the sense that it it you recognizethe teachers for for next year that comes down to 3.58which is war palatable with the two percentongoing dollars that will have with but it seemed to percent twopercent but left that gustafson left

watched on tv yes yes either any otherquestions if not all in favor say aye i any opposed absent both one abstention motion carries thank you i'm the board of education approved theagreement with the maintenance employees as present seconds it's been moved and secondedthat the board of education approved the agreement with the maintenance employeesas presented school and the maintenance employees we'veagreed to up

3.67 percent total package increase that represents 48 cents per hourincrease on the wages arm again there are some new insurancefees that are in there with the packing fees that through the affordable health care actthat are included in the budget but ultimately it's at whole packageincrease at 3.67 percent any questions on favor say aye my many opposed extensions motion carries thank you

the board of education approved theagreement with the bus driver bus attendant employees as presentedsecond it's been moved and seconded that the board of education approved theagreement with the bus driver bus attendant employees as present scopus up the top bracket increase food the bus drivers in attendance is a 3.70percent increase it does represent a 53 said an hourraise for drivers and attendants and if you're wondering why that's outaskew with some the other ones you've heard before

the drivers in attendance don'tcurrently have much in the benefits package area and something that will change withthe affordable health care act but ultimately they get the football been more towardthe salary because they're not spending as much on the benefits right nowthere's only a certain dollar amount that goes into the insurance benefitsand that dollar amount is fixed and certain individuals qualify for thatagain when the affordable health care act kicks in

someone that's gonna change in your cvor salary increases a little bit different for some otherscripts and if you see some other numbers using why did so on so whatwe've got a a larger hourly increase than others that isgenerally the reason it's about the benefits package that they've negotiatedover time so again it a total package increase of3.7 percent for the drivers in attendance there wassome discussion at some point about activities buses and whether thatwhether the contract language we had with the

yeah with the bus drivers allowed forthe flexibility we needed to run those activities buses that i don'tknow if that was true or not true but as i got resolved so that that is nolonger an obstacle for how we handle our these about if we havea life some symbols language issues have beenaddressed we there's enough flexibility that willmake it happen the really but comes down to our problem which referring to is there is acertain our guarantee we guarantee over bus drivers a two-hourminimal

works time so the bus driver comes in weappear so there was some concern with thoseactivity buses because enough to the you you are basically two hours of workfor half an hour but obviously we can't somebody for on p.m. you know small pieces so that's part of the issue hasto do with the timing love if i run a route from one high school day ends at 232 4:30 in the these buses leave an hourlater what do we do with that in between times 0

it there's enough flexibility that willmake it happen but there's there are some work to be done think new questions all in favor say aye i any opposed motion carries i was that the board of educationapproved non-marking salary and benefits package as presentsecond it's been moved and seconded that the board of education approved the nonbargaining salary and benefits package as presented despair and i will handle that onebecause mister hope this is another

group up before i start i do wanna think rickand kevin keller to a looping work till and a whole variety of other folks whohave spent for the american session between when the legislature decidedthat we would be receiving the two plus two percent the negotiations time that's gone into making sure we have up contract that wecan present to our employees actually teachers willget their contract starting tomorrow which is an exceptionally date know ifit was up before school year and so

rick and crew have put in many many manyhours trying to negotiate elsa those contractsand really pretty brief period time so tothe non bargaining group we have as you have heard up many more so far voice i'll are members of bargaining units we dohave nine the employees that are not those are administrators so not thesuperintendent but all other administrators in the state for in the in the district k and not bystate law be members a bargaining unit

so they're all are bargaining staff as is misterassistance coordinator student services truancy officers it staff grass supervisor managerassistant managers dis batters like trainers facility scheduler and apresenter place it's really a mixed bag of folkswith them that hours you've heard from on the circle pit some our range in settlements banned fromabout 3.67 to 3.7 except for the case we have thelump sum payment word

goes to four percent so what i'mproposing for the nonpartisan folks is a 3.66 percent increase so would be the lowest evolve the i'll bargaining units but just let me knowabout a hundred the four percent so really is in line with what we're doing for other poised ofcourse that 3.66 percent is total package so it includesincreases in insurance premiums i purse cost increases as well as salary increases and pack fees from

contract includes the is this school year but wewant to make sure that we got it in the in the minutes since we're proving manythese other contracts so i any questions called favor say aye aren't any opposed motion carries thank you a any board member administrative issues we've got not agenda items mister byteens gets comments actually we're going

postpone that i am going to do it forcethrough and and programs and then programs on comeon come before the board good thank you its original brilliance is it were had in someongoing discussions with the silly study for newport worth afeasibility study for a pool complex is already thing going on with that or what's thestatus of the that several meetings with the withconsultants a ago to a virtual meeting the last week so thatcontinues to make progress in

there will be at some point in therelatively near future possible more public input taken on thatso does continue to move forward i think itcalls the the rfp kevin calls for a report outfrom that group and september means mid-september we still planning on having some sort ofjoint meeting with city councillors i think that it's been difficult toorganize so i think they'll be more information on that later

i think the there will be at some pointadjustable wasn't there anymore i believe the july 30 is probably onhold but will confirm that in the next day or two i'll just with calendars it's a i thinkbecome difficult but we will confirm thattomorrow i will give us the meeting i'm sorry wednesday kevin and i have ameeting with the the city manager and their lead on thatcommittee to country finalize that but i thinkscheduling it's likely to not be a mother

so on wednesday after meaningful try toidentify date or ask for some alternate dates from this group is also sickle whispers ijust a couple other time it's like i attended the musical march the othernight the with the view cold so drum corps and it was a very large public eventsnor does i'll feel the facility seem to hold up very wellthere's a lot of work involved in any of those types a big events with staff from the people the district and

balls and the historians senior high andso it was it was a great night a great event facility seemed be a very nice representation while we hoped itwould be up for holding large community events wereabout your month and a half from football season soi guess was targeting much more attention thereand it with regards activities i guess i just wanted to make a note that tomorrow night at seven o'clock veteranssuffield seem to be senior i will be

fine view cams that for the opportunity to go to the statetournament the public schools and i had team in this the view during the statesoftball tournament since 1985 so it's been a long time but tomorrow night love our schools will berepresenting the view community in the estates of alltime itself anybody's doesn't have anything to dotomorrow night it was a great event 21 go out take your sure both teams on you sounded like that guy from hoosiersfor good

okay aerosols good stuff yes absolutely and heather board memberfound in school i would just like to clarify a little bit my my pushed back to choc and dom hiscomment was and i really appreciate your account forto be great if we had our legislature legislators regularly come to schoolmeetings that was i thought it was great that shocking the comment was 1i asked about %ah how we need to know

we need the proper notice as subscribeby the law we need proper notice on what our state funding is going to be and we don't get that state funding wecan't plan appropriately his response was well we were in themajority on that one and and i'll tell you what i don't careif it's the republicans fault i don't care if it's the democrats falli don't care if it's the bull moose party for twitter follow years we meet up functional system when it comes to school finance

and in this past six months it has notbeen functional we've it we've gone into negotiationsnot knowing what our dollars are gonna be and and personally you know with all duerespect of he cares about education as much asanybody i don't wanna hear the i want to hear the finger-pointing armin from me as a school board guy i don't care whosefault it is it's time that we work together at this at the local state and federal level tomake a political system

work and it and it i get fired up aboutthat because i think it's a it's important that we're able todeliver what we need to deliver to our employees average age for it upand it was a good point and i guess what what the boiling pointi made was they have addressed next year we know it's gone beforepresents a correct so they've the problem where this year and next yearbut who knows having mike brought up next two-year deal with next year'ssocket next year's done yet when you get there get it done early so we so we can start planning those thingsand i think we just absurd

hopefully we're back in that system infoyou know place by their own rules regulations we should always know yourrate so we should always known only the you were cominginto but the following year so that we can drink you know purposefuldecisions about education so we don't find ourselves in a situation whereafter offer our employees 0 percent raise that is afeel-good anybody especially the employees and sohopefully will maintain that that year and a half advance notice aswe move into the future because it is vital for us to be

successful organization to know were those dollars are going that and iwould suggest we keep the pedal i as it still takes 16 percent along growth to get to the average trade and a yet we're not i think this i think we'vecertainly all agree that you know throwing money at something isnot the solution but same time you cannot save your way to student higher student achievementsin a vial and so i think we continue to make that casethat were good stories of those dollars

frankly yeah you know to get excited andpat yourself on the back about two plus two and then for i think is still missin the bigger picture so i know thisboard is committed to doing that's anything else preview upcoming boardmeeting i'll will have the a for being august 12which is on the the delivered to the new school year sovery excited lot we're going on a submits themthrough building and grounds of technology and lover is to start theschool year successfully next year so i well regular board meeting on august 12
