i chose pm&c because i was just excited atthe opportunity to work on government policy at the highest level. and there's nowhere better to do that thanat pm&c. working in the regional network it's a bitlike a juggling act, like you kind of have the departmental needs here, and then you've gotthe needs of the community here, and so we

i get to see the ultimate decision makingprocess of government and i help to write the decisions for the cabinet. so i get to see everything. its one of the great privileges of the publicservice, to be able to be part of that decision making process the graduate year is actually a 2 year programmeat pm&c. it just means that i to get to try different rotations,get into different areas, and learn about different things from different people. we need to be able to get out and talk closelywith our aboriginal and torres strait islander people at the local level.
even though i'm working for government i don'thave to compromise that, i can still be a proud indigenous person and a public servant. i think pm&c was a standard department, iknew that it would give me an opportunity to work in a lot of policy areas that had direct effect onto the lives of everyday australians just coming together and just talking, isvery similar across all aboriginal communities. they just want to have a sit down and havea yarn with you. you've got to be able to listen and take inwhat they're saying so you can address the problems, or you know, provide a solution for them. we try to say because we make a difference,but your actually delivering services that
