my name is kaitlin frandoi teach fourth grade i have nineteen students 10 boys andnine girls they are hard workers and there really a good class took a lotof building teamwork in the beginning of the year and a lot of procedures and things to learn respect and manners and everything but for the most part wecan do different activities where we
Dallas Morning News Education Blog, rotate around the room because they havethose abilities the most problems i've seen people having with personalized learning and chromebooks and vision 2020 all seem to be classroom management issues kind ofthing like yes there are things are not supposed to do but that's not thecomputers that you know the kids going
to be doing something off task of thing but what happens if there is four people here you come up ok everybody goes and finds a different activity they really check eachothers work and just from the beginning of the year we do a lot ofbuilding as a team and working together and you know using yourresources as we call them is your friend or a book or you know somebody else it doesn'talways have to be the teacher or the adult so that way i canjust glanced around the room and make sure that they're on task but theyreally are truly digging deep into that
subject and i can focus on one or twothat need more assistance so what's your new denominator going to be, new denominator, what's your new denominator yes sir, what's your new denominator, yes ma'am the thing is with personalized learning is itreally takes a lot of work off of the teacher i mean i really put so muchresponsibility on them which makes them a better learner but also makes himthe better you know soon to be adult you know it really puts, it takes alot of work off me and just gives them that choice and they soon realized thatthey choose easy choices are they you know are working their hardest that thataffects them as well
today we did a fraction choice boardfor a fraction review for our test this week and i chose different activitiesusing the chromebooks and manipulative type activities to helprebuild and review those skills that we've been doing for fractions andthey were given in 15 choices and they were told to choose four and i you knowgive them a rubric and i wanted them to choose from different skillsequivalent fractions comparing fractions etc so they charged us to pick for andthat any order they wanted one two three or four and they would get twentyminutes at each other station so they chose whatever they felt like theyneeded the most help with that stuff was
the instruction given as well what wouldhelp you become a better learner what could you do better at so those are theones that they chose for that and then when we rotated it just kind ofdepended on who else shows that activity in those will be the onesworking together and if it was full they moved to a different one kind of thing and they just worked with whoever
