♪♪♪ i think what students really like to see is real worldapplication. in terms of what happens in thereal world. my name is doug klutz.i am a full time instructor,internship director, and academic advisor here at theuniversity of alabama in thecriminal justice and sociology .
Alabama Department Of Education Jobs, when i was growing up the showprofiler which was kind of the first 'criminal minds' so to speak. became really interested in thedof criminal justice specificall working as a quote unquote "profiler" for the fbi
when i entered school i sawlike so many do that these media depictions of the criminal justice systemare not always accurate i quickly saw that iprobably wouldn't be a profilerfor the fbi. but i could still work in the fdof criminal justice in somecapacity. i like teaching the intro classbecause i do have a wide varietyof majors one of my first lectureseach semester is to go over howyou know the medias depiction of the criminal justice system.a lot of these tv shows,moviesthey make for great entertainme but they're not reality. my class allows them to seemore of the realistic aspect
and when i get them interested in that angle then they start thinking about completeing internships in the field. and so seeing them buildthat experience and seeing themstart of their careers is very rewarding.
